Font Junkie Friday: Fun Font Combinations

It's time for another Font Junkie Friday here at Pretty Little Palace. I originally posted this on my teaching blog, One Lesson at a Time, but wanted to share it here as well! I love putting different fonts together - it's kind of like combining an art project with a puzzle. Here are my current favorite combinations:

Free Printable Instagram Sign for Wedding

I'm pretty Instagram-obsessed these days. My Instagram account is a pretty little pile-up of teaching pics, puppy pics, and random life pics. I know it will be suuuuuuper hard to wait for our professional photographs to come back from our wedding. Patience is a virtue. I don't have it. So, I definitely want to share photos of our big day with our friends via The Gram. I made this printable sign for our wedding. I'm not sure exactly where I will put it or how I will display it. But if I figure it out, I'll be sure to let you know.

I wanted to be able to share it with anyone else who wanted it, so I had a digital fist fight with Adobe Pro to figure out how to make that happen. I'm pretty sure I won. I *think* I figured it out. You will need to download the free font Amatic SC in order to type in your hashtag. You can find the font {HERE}. Then, just click in the editable text field and put in your wedding hashtag. If it doesn't work....Adobe Pro won.

Click {HERE} to download the editable PDF version.

UPDATED 5/19/15:

I've heard from a bunch of people with long hashtags that it's difficult to manipulate the text size on the editable doc, so I've created an image file with no hashtag on it. This way, you can download the blank image, open with Preview or Adobe Reader or insert it into whatever your preferred document creator is (Word, Powerpoint, Keynote, Illustrator, etc.) and lay a text box on top of it to insert your own hashtag. Click {HERE} for the blank image file. It's pre-sized to fit in an 8 x 10 frame, but you can also resize it to fit your needs! I hope this helps! :)

Hello Spring: Free Printable

The first day of spring is.....not today. Eh. Oh well. As usual, I'm late to life. But the GOOD news is, spring is here. At least officially.  And THAT is something to celebrate indeed. Some people celebrate exciting events by drinking champagne. I celebrate exciting events by creating printables. While drinking champagne.

Last week, I shared some of my favorite free wedding fonts. Click {HERE} to check them out. I love free fonts, but sometimes a girl with an eye for design has to shell out the bucks to get the goods. These fonts are worth every penny in my opinion. (Note: Channel is free for personal use on Dafont.) Check them out and tell me they don't make you swoon! Links to find each one are listed below.

Pretty Little Notebooks

So, I'm casually strolling through Target, talking myself out of buying every single item in the party/crafting/office aisles. {Step away from the washi tape, Blair. One more roll and you'll have to be dug out from underneath a mountain of washi by a search and rescue team. Neighbors will talk. It will be a scene.} You know...the usual. Out of the corner of my eye, I spot a little something tucked away on the bottom shelf. HOLD. THE. PHONE.

Did you know that Rifle Paper Co. makes the prettiest little notebooks you've ever seen and sells them at TARGET?! And if you DID know, why the $^#%!?&* didn't you come to my house, haul me off the couch, throw me over your shoulder, chuck me headfirst into your car, and drive like a maniac to bring me to them?? WHY??

SWOON. FAINT. GASP. Obviously, I had to have them. I also needed gold glitter clothespins, giant gold paperclips, and gold baker's twine. Why? Mainly because they look so freaking lovely next to my new Rifle Paper Co. notebooks. And isn't THAT reason enough? ;)

Table Numbers: Pretty Little Printables {Freebie!}

I've been playing around with some ideas for table numbers and came up with these glittery numbers on a black and white striped background. I got the cute frame on clearance at Target. We are collecting mason jars and other antique bottles for our wedding tables. We get them at yard sales, antique stores, thrift shops, etc. But one of the biggest suppliers of Turner-Brennan wedding flower holders? Classico Pasta Sauce. It comes in beautiful Atlas mason jars like the one in this pic - loooove!  {Side note: My new hobby is staging and photographing wedding tablescapes in my house. Hashtag it's totally normal.}

If you want to download the table numbers, I made them for numbers 1-15. You can click {HERE} to grab them for free. They are high resolution PNG images, sized to 4 x 6 inches. :)

Font Junkie Friday: Free Wedding Fonts

It's official. I am a font junkie. A fontaholic. A font hoarder. See them, love them, have to have them. I've been working on wedding printables this week and wanted to share some of my favorite FREE wedding fonts. Some are more traditional looking, while others are a little funkier. I'm a mix-and-match kind of gal.

Click on the links below to download each font. Please note that they are only free for personal use.

(caps lock on in the example above)
(make sure to read Kimberly's directions on how to use this font the right way!)

I love free as much as the next guy, but I've also shelled out some cold hard cash to get exactly the look I want. Next week I'll share my favorite paid wedding fonts! Happy Font Junkie Friday!

Date of the Month Club

I love giving gifts, but with a wedding and honeymoon on the horizon (woot woot!), my fiancĂ© and I are trying not to spend money like hooligans. So for Valentine's Day this year, I gave Steve a "Date of the Month Club Membership". So fun!

This is certainly not a new idea - the blogosphere is crawling with cute and clever variations of it. But I was excited about how it all turned out and he loved it! At least he said he did...good man. I think it would be a great gift for any occasion!

Most of the dates are cheap and easy ideas that don't require much planning. However, I did get us tickets to see Aziz Ansari's standup show in April. Prettttttty excited about that. So, it seemed only fitting that the "descriptions" for each of the dates be written entirely in Tom Haverford quotes. #thisishowispendmytime I created the cards in Keynote and printed them out on card stock on my color laser printer. Side note: My color laser printer is in my top 5 best investments I've ever made. WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Here are the dates I came up with:

I put each of the cards into an envelope. On the first envelope, I put the "Date of the Month Club Membership Card". Inside that envelope I wrote a little note explaining the gift.

 I used adhesive kraft paper labels (from Martha Stewart's office line at Staples) on the front of each envelope. I tried my hand at a little "calligraphy".....and remembered why I appreciate great font artists so much. ;)

I'm a girl that looooooves her washi tape, so I sealed each envelope with this cute polka dotted tape.

Then I tied up the bundle of envelopes with some neon cord because I am a firm believer that Life is Better in Neon.

If you want to use my template, I've saved it as a PowerPoint file. You can open it in PP and edit the text boxes. The date night titles are in Futura Medium Condensed, and the descriptions are in KG Skinny Latte. You can download KG Skinny Latte by clicking {HERE}.

Click {HERE} for the PowerPoint file.

Welcome to Pretty Little Palace!

I am excited to begin the next chapter of my blogging journey here at Pretty Little Palace! I have a teaching blog called One Lesson at a Time, where I share ideas, tips, and resources for the classroom. In addition to creating teaching materials, I love to design all kinds of printables and crafts. I wanted to create a space where I could share some fun things that don't quite "fit" on my teaching blog. And so....Pretty Little Palace was born! I plan to use this blog to share fun printables, ideas that I stumble upon as I plan my upcoming wedding, and other random bits of glittery goodness.

So here's a little poster I made last night. You can click {HERE} to download the PDF version for printing.

I hope you'll join me here again at Pretty Little Palace! To stay up-to-date, make sure to follow along on BlogLovin' or Google Friend Connect!
